Introducing Dev Homepage

There's nothing more frustrating than not knowing what to do next. After recently onboarding hundreds of engineers, it was clear how overwhelming it can be. When you join a new company, you've got all sorts of things to do. Get your dev environment setup, do HR tasks, do stuff with IT, fill out forms, learn new processes, people, etc. The list goes on and on. One thing is for sure: having a central place to help you know what's next. For both on-boarding and furthering your career at X company, this is undeniably important. Anytime I spend reducing friction for new employees is time well spent. For that reason, I'm announcing the Dev Homepage.

The Dev Homepage is designed to be your browser's home page. It helps you know what you need to do, what's left, and what's next. Working in any company today is overwhelming. Having a place to help organize and reduce friction is crucial. Plus, it helps reduce burnout and is great for remote employees.

Our target audience is obvious: developers joining a company, as well as those who are seasoned. Dev Homepage helps organize content—without replacing tools—from a variety of sources. You've probably got endless pages in Confluence, GitHub, Notion, Google docs, Word docs, Excel files, Sheets, and more. It's entropy at the highest degree. How do you organize all of that stuff for yourself? How about your employees? It's a huge challenge that Dev Homepage addresses.

If you're anything like me, you probably have to juggle all of this ever changing information. With stuff in so many different places, how do you know what's official? Which one of the 12 confluence docs about coding standards matters to me? It's pretty easy to drop the ball when you're trying to juggle pages and links in chat with so many tools and sites to keep track of. Sure, you could bookmark them, but what if you don't even know they exist? What if you're still referencing old docs? This happens, and it happens every single day.

Split brain is no fun. So without further ado, let's take a look at the beta of Dev Homepage.
